About The Artist

Born and raised in the east end of Trinidad  I emigrated to Canada in 1987.  As a young girl I was very much interested in drawing and sketching and was deeply attracted to the teachings in my primary school art class.

During my years in Canada I returned to Trinidad every year, particularly around the carnival season.  During this time the sights and colours of Trinidad and Tobago have always captivated and inspired me

In 1999 I  formed a company in Canada called Brush Strokes which specialized in various forms of faux technique painting on many different surfaces, including walls, floors and furniture surfaces.  Furniture pieces were turned from old, tired things ready for the garbage to new and interesting pieces with these techniques. I also turned old run down concrete floors and sinks to works with interesting art pieces and faux marble finishes.

While the many applications of the faux painting technique still fascinates me, I continue to be deeply drawn to the art of visual painting.   Most of what I learn is through exploration to continuously find ways to convey what I felt was the beauty in an object or a person.

Many of my works are done through consignment.  I take a customers photograph and paint the scene or vision with the customer in mind and also mindful of the beauty of the brush stroke.  Colours cross borders and no matter where I am or what photograph I am given, my main attempt is to create one of a kind pieces.
